The straw is a training and rehabilitation tool. It is all about pressure and resistance in the throat. There are plenty of straws out there but the Voice Straw offers a few unique features that truly leverage the science it is founded on.
Based on exceptional science and peer-reviewed studies, including pioneering work by voice scientist, Ingo Titze, we realized the Voice Straw would be the most important tool in a singer’s toolbox.
This is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Some voice users will require a larger straw, others a smaller size. We provided both options because we understand how the straw works. The diameter of the straw relates to the open phase of the vocal folds, you get the most efficient outcome for your voice. Over time, you may find a smaller size works better as you become more efficient. Your voice and voice demands are always going to change because we are working with human tissue. This is the reason you have options for sizing with the voice straw.
Many people understand the value of the straw and what it can do for your voice. But the question is always...Now what? When you sing and/or articulate the vocal tract positioning you achieved with the straw has to move. Well.....You are absolutely right! It does! How can you keep that same feeling? Simple...you are going to add the The Voice Cup to your routine. This is the missing piece that many people don't do.
By using the Voice Cup you are going to be working acoustical pressure. Hooray! The voice straw regulates aerodynamic pressures while the cup balances acoustical pressure making it a complete vocal package. When you add the Voice Cup, with the straw, you are able to get a tight seal around your mouth and actually sing, talk, yell, distort all while getting the vocal tract to remain its it healthy configuration!
The Voice Cups are made with top grade silicone. Easily collapsible so you can throw them in a bag for easy travel.

So far I am able to use the straws and cups to assist me during my practice sessions. I love how they provide another dynamic!
I see a big difference in my voice and amount I am able to practice. Love these straws!
I haven't sung professionally in over 30 years, and after the last 10 years of working in an air conditioned office I was afraid I'd never enjoy singing again. I was experiencing severe breaks in my range, physical discomfort in my throat, lack of any natural, resonant tone, and a feeling that there was some kind of "valve leak" in my breathing. In the last few years, I've also been clearing my throat a lot. I mean like...a lot.
I was skeptical, but went ahead and purchased the Voice Straw and Cup set, because I was looking for a way to practice and warm up without disturbing any of my lockdown neighbors. By that I mean, I didn't want to be embarrassed for how bad my voice has gotten.
After day one of doing the 20+ minutes of exercises I noticed an immediate improvement in the throat clearing department. A huge improvement. Within a week I was able to perform the "siren" exercises not just smoothly but to a greater range than previously. Breathing has gotten stronger too. Supportive and solid. The "flat tire" sensation is gone. I was singing in the shower this morning and it was such a delight to just make a relaxed, natural sound again. I ain't looking to become the world's oldest opera star, but I'm a musical hobbyist, and to be able to sing and record - maybe even perform again in a casual setting - now looks possible again. The exercises are something I can do every day, and I can feel that I'm making improvements each time.
I haven't used the Cups yet. Working up to that. But, I'm glad I took a chance on this. This skeptic is a believer.
I use the straws and exercises at least 4x a week to help keep my placement in line. I even keep one of the straws in my car so I can warm up and cool down before and after gigs and I can definitely tell the difference.
